Beyond the Call: When Thanks Turn Into Something Bigger
I had a short Zoom call today with someone who had asked my opinion and advice for a certain situation. I love moments like that, because I really want to add value to those who are doing good work.
It wasn't a long call, maybe 20 minutes. At the end the person said to me, "I appreciate you taking this time. I'd like to make a donation on your behalf to a charity as a thank you."
I've never had that. But it's pretty incredible. It shows the value this person has for my time, and also recognizes that a donation to a charity is a great way to show appreciation.
Minutes later I got an email from the charity I suggested, saying a donation had been made in my name. He followed up right away. Good to his word. That makes an impact.
I hope you find ways to add value to others, with no expectation of something in return. And if you do ask for someone's time and insight, this is a pretty powerful way of saying thank you.
