Small Gestures, Big Impact: How to Make Someone’s Day Better

It doesn't take much to make someone's day better.

I was out for a walk today over lunch, just observing the hustle and bustle of the world around me. And I got thinking about the power we have to impact other's lives. Three things came to me, easy things, that I can do to leave a positive impact on each person I come in contact with.

A smile

A word

An act of service

They don't cost us much, but they pay big dividends.

A smile: You know what it feels like when someone smiles? It lifts your spirits. It's hard not to smile back. We mirror what we see. So be generous with your smiles!

A word: "Thank You", "You're Welcome", "You did a great job", "I am learning a lot from you", "You make this place better". A couple of words, a sentence, shared with authenticity and heart, can leave a big impression. And the opposite is also true, our words really do have the power to cut the legs out from under someone. Choose life with your words.

An act of service: holding a door, letting someone merge in front of you in traffic, helping someone who dropped items re-gather them, picking up a cup of coffee for a coworker. When you serve others, you truly do brighten their day.

A smile

A word

An act of service.

You really do have power to make someone's day better.

Cheering you on!
